It’s important to get to know a client’s business in order to provide effective marketing strategies. Some marketers may try to get away with simply handing clients a questionnaire to populate, and, although this approach may seem streamlined and effective, we have found that we can miss out on some of the key issues that aren’t likely to show up in written responses. So, whenever an opportunity to spend quality time with a client arises, we jump at it.
We have found that putting in this time and energy at the onset helps to foster a relationship centered on collaboration and true partnership, and little field trips that don’t involve conference rooms and Powerpoint presentations are always a welcome change!
This weekend we tagged along with Ben and Josh from MDM Pumps, while they traveled to the Bay Area to visit a few of their key clients. Our first stop was the California Academy of Sciences, a renowned scientific and educational institution dedicated to exploring, explaining, and sustaining life on Earth. Our day was spent at a state of the art aquarium watching and learning from marine biologists studying marine organisms, their behaviors, and interactions with the environment. Being able to witness a client’s product application in the real world and getting to speak directly with their customers is the ultimate learning experience.
Later in the evening, we had the pleasure of attending the NIGHTLIFE program, exploring the museum after hours with cocktails in hand and vibing to good house music.
This video provides a sneak peak into that trip.
Many thanks to everyone at @calacademy and the Steinhart Aquarium, especially Laurie Kormos for taking good care of us during our visit!
